Itching for a Road Trip |
February 11, 2005 |
After having settled down in the Seattle area for a number of months and being tied down to work and other situations, I found myself itching to travel. Time is not ripe yet for an extended trip, but I had a full day off, a Friday, so I contemplated where I might go for an all day trip. At the same time, quite often where I work, I get a spectacular view of the Puget Sound, the Kitsap Peninsula and the snow capped Olympic Mountains. It was as if those mountains were beckoning me to pay them another visit. So I thought, why not take a loop trip around the mountains? This would be a lot of driving, but the trip would take me through some areas that I had never seen before and other areas I am quite familiar with. At the same time I could practice my photography and writing skills. So before too late in the morning, after buying batteries for my camera because I forgot to charge my rechargeables the night before, I headed down Interstate 5 from North Seattle through Tacoma and to Olympia where I veered on to US Highway 101 for a short jaunt to state Highway 8 and the US 12 over to Aberdeen where I would rejoin US Highway 101 for a trip along the coast and over the north side of the Olympic Peninsula. |
